The Sioux Valley Cooperative was established on February 10, 1956 when a group of Watertown locals met with one common goal – to form a cooperative oil company.
In their first year of business, the cooperative had one location, two trucks and 580 patrons.
Today, Sioux Valley Cooperative employs about 30 full-time employees and 20 part-time. The company offers farms, homes and businesses reliable energy, agricultural and convenience products through it’s network of eight locations across central and Eastern South Dakota.

What is a Cooperative?
A cooperative is a business that is owned and controlled by the members and has the ability to adapt and invest in the interest of its members. Rather than rewarding outside investors with its profits, a coop returns surplus revenue to its patrons in proportion to how much they use the co-op. Since its formation in 1956, Sioux Valley Co-op has paid back more than $27 million to patrons.
